Reactive Extraction of Propionic Acid Using Tri-N-butyl Phosphate in Petroleum Ether: Equilibrium Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
In present paper, the recovery of propionic acid from aqueous phase by reactive extraction was studied using tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in petroleum ether. Extraction using pure diluent was found to be poor. Using the mixture of extractant-diluent the extraction was significantly improved. Results were presented in terms of distribution coefficient, equilibrium complexation constant, loading ratio and extraction efficiency. Propionic acid and TBP were found to form ( = 1:1) complex with no overloading.

متن کاملInfluence of Temperature on Reactive Extraction of Propionic Acid using Tri-n-butyl Phosphate (TBP) dissolved in Inert Diluents and 1-Decanol
This paper deals with propionic acid extraction by tri-n-butylphosphate (TBP), a phosphorusbonded, oxygen-containing extractant dissolved in inert diluent (decane and kerosene) and a modifier (1decanol) at different temperature in the range of 298 K to 333 K. Active diluents (1-decanol) that enhance the extracting power of amines and phosphorus-bonded, oxygen-containing extractants are more fav...
متن کاملEquilibrium Study on Reactive Extraction of Acetic Acid with Tri-n-butyl Phosphate in N-hexane
Extraction of carboxylic acids from dilute aqueous solution using traditional solvents such as ketones, alcohols, ethers, and ester is inefficient because the distribution ratio is rather low. Reactive extraction which exploits reversible chemical complexation is an effective separation process for extraction of carboxylic acids from aqueous streams such as fermentation broths and wastewaters. ...

This paper deals with propionic acid extraction by Aliquat 336, a quaternary amine dissolved in ndodecane and 1-decanol. Chemical equilibrium experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of modifier, 1-decanol on the extraction efficiency of Aliquat 336 in ndodecane at fixed initial acid concentration of 0.27 gmol/l. Extraction efficiency is determined in terms of distribution co...
متن کاملStudy of Equilibrium and Mass Transfer of Co- Extraction of Different Mineral Acids with Iron(III) from Aqueous Solution by Tri-n-Butyl Phosphate Using Liquid Membrane
Extraction of Fe(III) from aqueous solution using Trin-butyl Phosphate (TBP) as carrier needs a highly acidic medium (>6N) as it favours formation of chelating complex FeCl3.TBP. Similarly, stripping of Iron(III) from loaded organic solvents requires neutral pH or alkaline medium to dissociate the same complex. It is observed that TBP co-extracts acids along with metal, which causes reversal of...
